The Experiment
Since I was little I've had a deep fascination, verging on obsession, history. Specifically how people lived their day to day life. It all started with reading "Little House on the Prairie" in 1st grade. Since then, my taste for history have expanded from the Pioneer days to include, Victorian England, WW2 British home front, and 1950's just to name a few. The creation of historical reality shows has just added fuel to the fire.
While watching shows such as "Supersizers Go", "Back in Time for Dinner" and the House series (1900's, 1940's ect) I decided to take my obsession a step further and really immerse my self in one of these time periods. I figured the one that was most possible would be Wartime Rations (WW2). I want to try and live on just what was available during rationing in Britain during WW2.
I have been diving in to the research, and have found a lot of good information. I will be putting it on my "Living on Rations" page if you would like to take a gander.
Here are the amounts allowed during rationing. For my first experiment I will be using the maximum amounts during rationing. Figured I would work myself into it.
I plan on starting in a few days. We will see how it goes. First step will to do an inventory of what I already have and make a shopping list.
Happy Crafting,
Nikki
